Everyone and everything is on the moveYesterday was Canada Day, the national day of Canada. It celebrates the Constitution Act of 1867, which united the separate British colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick into a single British dominion (named Canada) within the British empire. As a federal holiday, everyone is off from work and, it seems, wandering our street on the way down to the waterfront promenade. If that didn't crowd the streets enough, yesterday was also Moving Day in the province of Québec. The vast majority of all apartment leases start and end on July 1st. Well over 120,000 households across the province are moving from one apartment to another, all at the same time, all competing for the same moving vans, parking spaces and extra pairs of hands. Imagine "freshman move-in day" at a college campus of your choice, and then scale it up to an entire state. Tidbit
